About Us

Naval Engineering Services Limited (NESL) is exclusively owned by the Nigerian Navy as a subsidiary of Naval Holdings Limited (NHL). The Company is limited Liability Company with CAC registration was incorporated in 2013 as part of the NN transformation Plan to develop indigenous naval engineering local content industrial capacity.

The objective of creating the Company is to support the NN Fleet and provide services to the Nigerian Maritime Sector in the areas of marine engineering, civil engineering, logistics support among others. The Company is leveraging on its strategic relationships with key maritime stakeholders as well as civil and maritime related engineering practitioners to provide a broad range of services to an extensive client base. Additionally, the Company’s close working relationship with government agencies through the NN provides an opportunity to eliminate/reduce some of the operating costs and fast track some of the processes associated with the provision of engineering services nationwide.

The Company's manpower comprises of 9 officers and 50 ratings. Her core asset is the corporate head office located at the 10th floor of the old Defence Building 1-3 Moloney Street Lagos Island, Lagos. The management team of the Company possesses the right balance of expertise, skills and experience staff in the field of engineering capable of steering the affairs of the Company in an ever changing and challenging business environment. NESL also has a team of independent auditors from (Atilade Adeyemo & CO), legal and business consultants, whose oversight functions include among others, ensuring that quality accounting policies, internal controls, and proper books of account are maintained. The overall essence is the prevention and detection of fraud and material errors in financial management reporting.

Some of the notable activities of NESL include the Extended Life Refit (ELR) contract for Nigerian Navy Ships and merchant vessels, the review of NESL strategic business plan and short-term business development. Others are docking and repair of NNS IBUSA, collaboration with PAGES training centre and current docking of the merchant boat NUE CHEETAH. These activities are aimed at projecting the image of the Company as “The Vanguard of Naval Engineering”, showcasing the Company as the custodian and reference point of naval engineering standards in support of NN operations.

NESL engaged various commercial entities with a view to developing strategic partnerships that would position the Company for profitability. The first set of partnerships relate to the manufacture of various engineering products and services. These partners include and not limited to Messers Wellmand Limited, Messers Infinity Paint Limited and Messers Prime Atlantic Global Engineering Services. Recently, NESL deepened its engagement with PAGES for collaboration in providing engineering, instrumentation, automation and control services. It is worth noting that, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the terms of partnership between NESL and PAGES has been signed.

NESL is in the process of collaborating with the governments of Cross River, Lagos and Rivers States for dredging and shore line protection of the water channels, removal of wreckages and siltation respectively. The overall essence of the collaboration is aimed at showcasing the Company’s capability in the maritime environment and also contributing to the GDP of Nigeria by way of local content.

NESL future projections is aimed at repositioning the Company to deliver world standard services in line with its mandate. The future projections are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound (SMART).

NESL business strategy is aimed at achieving the Company’s goals, competition and adapting to change. The strategy provides a road map for adapting to change, decision making, risk and effective internal control mechanism with a view towards achieving the mission and vision of the Company. To achieve this, NESL considers its Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats critical to the Company’s operations. The Company intends to venture into installation of communication masts, building of hospitals, construction of roads and water reticulation around the nation.

The current harsh business environment was considered in projecting revenue for the financial year 2026. Some underlying business assumptions that will be considered for the financial projection will be determined by the price of oil projection above 60 dollars per barrel to mitigate the exchange rate volatility, interest rate to remain stable, substantially below the current level to sustain demand and marginal cost of production within a limited range. Others are growing interest in the Nigeria economy which would translate to increase in demand for oil and gas infrastructure and large-scale production would translate to increase revenue and profit margins.
